Land is Water!
Soil plays a central role within the hydrological cycle. The features of soil as a storage and transformation medium as well as basis for the production of our food are of outstanding importance. Soil acts as a buffer to reduce and transform undesired water substances on the one hand, but also has great influence in reducing flood peaks during flood waters on the other hand.
We want to contribute to a better understanding of the complex interactions between water and soil because we are deeply convinced that a sustainable protection of water and soil is the basis for the continued existence of our society.
Therefore we support research and development in all fields of soil hydrology, soil and water protection.
Further fields of activity concern the monitoring of landscapes and their development in a man - environment context, as well as current questions on climate and environmental protection.
